Irrigation System Winterization

Protect Your Irrigation System Before Winter

Freezing temperatures can cause serious damage to an irrigation system if it isn't properly prepared before winter arrives. Water left inside pipes, valves, sprinkler heads, and other irrigation components can freeze, expand, and cause expensive damage.

Our professional Irrigation Winterization service uses a high-powered air compressor to safely blow all remaining water from your irrigation system, helping protect it from freezing temperatures and ensuring it's ready for the winter season.

Serving homeowners throughout Anne Arundel County and the surrounding areas, our experienced irrigation technicians help protect your irrigation investment year after year.

What's Included in Our Winterization Service?

During your Irrigation Winterization appointment, our technician will:

·        Shut off the irrigation water supply

·        Connect a professional air compressor to your irrigation system

·        Blow out each irrigation zone to safely remove trapped water

·        Open and inspect valves as needed

·        Prepare the backflow device for winter

·        Inspect visible system components

·        Check for any obvious issues that should be addressed before spring

·        Leave a service summary with notes regarding your irrigation system

Our goal is to remove as much water as possible from the system before freezing temperatures arrive, reducing the risk of costly winter damage.

Why Winterization Is Important

Simply shutting off your irrigation system is not enough to protect it during the winter. Water can remain trapped inside underground pipes, sprinkler heads, valves, and fittings. As temperatures drop below freezing, that trapped water expands, which can crack pipes, damage valves, and break sprinkler heads.

Using compressed air to thoroughly blow out the system is the most effective way to help prevent freeze damage and protect your irrigation system until spring.

Backflow Devices

As part of our Winterization service, we prepare the visible backflow device for the winter season to help protect it from freeze damage.

Please note that annual certified backflow testing is a separate service that must be performed by a licensed plumber or certified backflow tester, as required by many local jurisdictions.
